The DJ Shannon Show @ The Lot Radio 12/14/15

The final DJ Shannon Show of the year has arrived, and it’s a lush blend of silky house and disco grooves. Designed for winding down 2025 while still keeping the energy high, this mix delivers the kind of momentum we need to kick the doors open for 2026.

We opened the show with hypnotic selections from Life Recorder, spinning two tracks back-to-back from his Time Moods EP (2021). I’ve been revisiting this project over the past month, and it continues to pull me in with its lush synth work and driving hi-hats. If you’re a fan of Detroit and Chicago house, this EP offers a fresh, modern take on a timeless sound.

Midway through the show, we kept things moving with “Move Your Body (Maurice Joshua Remix)” from the label Nu Soul (2012) before finally diving into the “Fortunate” remix by Jay Denes—the one I’ve been swooning over for months and searching for from top to bottom on Discogs. I eventually tracked it down on a CD compilation called Platinum Hits 2000, packed with remixed classics from the era, and I couldn’t wait to share it.

From there, I had to drop a few cuts from Toronto-based DJ and producer Demuir, whose jacking house tracks are pure movement starters. One standout? His edit of “WAP” by Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B. As one listener perfectly put it: “HOT.” And it’s a free download on Soundcloud!

We wrapped things up with my favorite disco edit of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” by MONTY, alongside some Blak Beat Niks to close out the night, in addition to my affirmation for the day, which is to be present, make sure to come up for air, and check on your loved ones more in the New Year. I know life can get consumed with work, but make equal time for love, connection, and friendship along the way.

Thank you for an incredible 2025. Hosting this show has been such a meaningful creative practice, and I can’t wait to come back strong in 2026 with new music—and more interview content on the way. Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, and I’ll see you next year. Full tracklist below.
